Council of Neighborhoods To Discuss Natural Resource Protection

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods will host a panel of natural resource experts at its 20th annual meeting scheduled for next week at Lost Corner Preserve. The meeting, set for Tuesday, March 13, will tackle one of the City Council’s 2018 priorities, natural resource protection.

Organizers hope to explore what the goals are when it comes to stormwater management, stream protection and monitoring Sandy Springs’ tree canopy. The Council of Neighborhood also seeks to get answers on how will city staff achieve the goals and educate citizens on best practices while at the same time ensuring responsible development.

Of course, homeowners will learn what role they play in the process, since the area’s quality of life is affected by the health of the community’s natural resources (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. The public and homeowner association leaders are invited to join the Council of Neighborhoods and take part in this important discussion. The panel will consist of a city of Sandy Springs staff member, Alan Toney, chairman of the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Jason Ulseth, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.

There will be a short business meeting before the start of the panel discussion. The meeting will be held in the Cottage at Lost Corner Preserve at 7300 Brandon Mill Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods seeks to enhance the quality of life in Sandy Springs by bringing together homeowner and condominium associations to share knowledge, identify common issues, achieve common goals, unify the community and encourage healthy, responsible development.
